Don’t you get excited when you hear this word??
I hope most of us do.
But shopping is not as fascinating as it sounds, behind this, a story of energy and budget is hidden.
As compared to women, men are more sensible.
Don’t take me wrong, I am a woman too 😉
But the truth is women are more shopaholic than man.
Let’s say some man too J
This craziness of shopping left your wallet empty.
Getting rid of shopping is impossible but getting rid of high budget shopping is possible.
So why not find a solution for it? And that is, what tips you need to follow for cost effective-shopping?
If you want to save your time and money then do follow these tips, they will keep your budget in hand.
1. IN BLACK AND WHITE
This is the most important, I repeat the most important tip to keep in mind. What I am trying to say is before shopping, put down each and everything you need on a piece of paper.
If you hate writing on paper, worry not coz you have your cell phones with you, when on earth they will go to help?
If you will not list down the things you needed, then it will skip from your mind and other unnecessary things will become part of your shopping too.
2. DON’T FORGET TO FEED YOUR STOMACH
If you shop empty stomach then your mind will not concentrate. And you will end up on a store to feed up your tummy. Buying unnecessary snacks and meal during shopping will divert you from your list and your budget will increase too. Instead of purchasing things to feed your tummy during shopping, it’s better to bring snacks from your home.
3. PRIORITIZE YOUR BUDGET
You need to keep this thing in your mind that BUDGET is your first choice so you need to stick it with it. If you shop without budget planning, it will be an ineffective idea for shopping. If you have no idea how much you have to spend on a specific stuff/thing then your budget limit will exceed.
4. LEAVE MONSTERS AT HOME
Forgive me here, for calling your kids monster, but the truth is children mostly act like a monster, and on shopping, they become a giant monster, lolzzz…J
So it’s better to leave your kids at home because they will not let you shop and fortunately if they let you then their never-ending wish list will burn your budget plan into ashes.
5. SHOP THE DIFFERENT BRANDS
I know that some of us are brand conscious, but it doesn’t mean that you have to strictly follow it. You have to meet your budget requirements first, not brand requirements. You need to seek other brands too, if they have a good quality and they don’t cost much and fits according to your budget as compare to the brand you used to follow, then trying different brands will give you benefits from all ways.
6. KEEP YOURSELF HYDRATED
Shopping not only takes a lot of time but it consumes your energy too. So instead of buying energy drinks, water bottles, during shopping; it’s better to keep your water bottle or fresh juices with you. They will not only keep you hydrated but also save your money and time.
7. RECEIPTS WORK AS DETECTOR
How does this work for you? Keeping the receipts save with yourself, help you to analyze and compare the results of different stores. It will benefit you in the future. By taking a glance of receipts of different stores you can compare which store help to cut your cost and which will be suitable for your budget.
8. DRAG YOUR WHOLE MONTH SHOPPING IN A DAY
One of the biggest mistakes which most of us do is; we shop for a week. In this way, your money, time and energy everything will waste. Due to this not only your car fuel wasted too, indirectly if you will calculate the amount of all these, then you will realize that it cost thrice on your budget. It’s better to shop for a month than for a week.
9. BE A CALCULUS OF YOUR OWN
Roughly estimated tally will help you to keep you aligned with your budget. Whatever you are buying, add them together and write it down on your cell phones, in this way you will better know, what you need to replace or quit.
10. CUT OFF FROZEN FOODS
For the sake of saving our time, most of us rely on ready-made or frozen foods. And we don’t realize that these frozen and ready-made foods actually cost a lot, as compared to those which we prepare at home. Secondly, they are nutrients less. So now is the time for you, to ask a question to yourself. Can you compromise your budget and health, just to save some stupid minutes??
11. SHOPPING ON TOES
During shopping, you need to be high alert and active. If you become careless you will have to pay for it. You need to take cashier on toes, so if they misprice any item, you can catch them red-handed.
12. RUN AND STOCK UP
SALE SALE SALE!!!
This word has a magnetism effect on us. Wherever it is written, we automatically draw towards it. And mostly we try to stock it up. So it’s a good idea, it will save you money. Hence, it’s a tip for you. If there is a sale on any item or product then pick those items in bulk.
13. STORE SAVING CARDS LEND A HELPING HAND
Store saving cards are a great help. If you have them, then take advantage of it, it can be a good deal for your most loved store. The only time you should consider receiving a store card is if you consistently go through a deal with a specific store.
14. LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP
Never think that only big stores have good quality products. People, who think like this, end up wasting a lot of money. So select only those stores, brands and products which are affordable for you and doesn’t exceed your budget limit.
15. DROWNING MAN CATCHES AT STRAW
Discounts are offered by many stores when you take your own bag during shopping. Before checking out you can ask a cashier if stores offer bags discount. If it does, then it will be a plus point for you. Usually, you can get five cents per bag; it means reusable bags can save your money in the long run. They are available in a variety of materials. If you are worried about how to carry them, don’t worry, coz grocery bags have shoulder straps, zippers and multiple partitions which can keep your items safe.
They not only save your money, but their usage also helps the environment by reducing pollution and conserving energy, hence they are eco-friendly too.
16. COMPARE PRICE WITH AVAILABLE PRODUCT QUANTITY
This one is to keep in mind. You need to compare your price with the weight of the product. If there is a slight margin, then your wallet might offer to pay.
For example: If you are purchasing a bar of butter and you are getting 16. Oz bar in $2.50, and 18. Oz bar in $3.0, then you should choose 18. Oz bar of $3.0.
Because there is just a slight margin of 50 cents, and by choosing this, you can avail the product in a large quantity.
17. A FRIEND IN NEED IS A FRIEND INDEED
Why you need to worry when you have such an amazing companion with you. Now you will think which companion I am talking about??
Hello, Credit Card is here
Most credit card holders got benefited by different discount offers. So while shopping at different stores and of different brands, you can take advantage of this opportunity.
18. FOCUS ON PRESENT NOT FUTURE
-This shirt is looking awesome, is this available in a small size?
-Sorry, ma’am, it’s not. Oh! Mmm…No problem, pack it. He can wear when he will grow.
Isn’t the above conversation look funny?? Of course, it did. But usually, we get to hear this during our shopping.
I can understand your love for your children, but it doesn’t mean that when you go out for your kid’s shopping, you try to buy each and everything. Even you ended up shopping for their clothes and stuff for their future use, which is just a waste. So just focus on the present need, not in the future.
19. AVAIL THE OPPORTUNITY OF RAIN CHECK
If any item is available for sale, then go grab it, if unfortunately, that store has run out of stock then ask the cashier or salesman for a rain check. So you can avail that product later with discount.
20. PRIORITIZE NON-PERISHABLE CELLOPHANES ITEMS
Non-Perishable items include dried herbs, spices, rice, any kind of pasta etc; and they play a big role in our grocery shopping. So try to purchase the non-perishable items that are available in small cellophane bags from grocery stores in bulk, coz they are much cheaper as compared to ones, that comes in glass jars.
21. LOCAL MARKETS ARE A GOOD SOURCE
Instead of visiting superstores and wasting a lot of money, it’s better to check out local cultural markets. Because over there you can easily bargain on certain products and you can explore some new exciting ingredients too.
22. CLEAR OUT ITEMS REDUCE BUDGET EXPENSE
One of the important tips is to check out the sell it today section. Most grocery stores want to clear out their stock, that’s why they placed those items on sale. So take advantage of this opportunity and grab those items.
23. SUPERSTORES FOR BEER LOVERS
If you are a great lover of beer and wine, then it will be suitable for you to buy liquor, beers from superstores. Because superstore has better deals for wines and beers and vodka is available in a much cheaper deal, like BJ’s Wholesale Club, Costco etc
24. DISTANT AWAY YOURSELF FROM RESTAURANTS
We all used to do this. We usually go out for shopping and mostly after shopping, we move towards a restaurant for lunch, dinner or brunch. If you look into this matter then you will realize that unintentionally you are diverting from your target.
Your main task was to shop; visiting restaurants will again cost expense from your pocket.
25. DON’T SEE THINGS FROM ANGUISH FILLED EYES
While shopping, just focus on your list. Don’t look at other stuff and shops with lustful eyes. They will always play their role to distract you from the major target. So whatever comes in your way, let it be and move on.
26. STICK WITH YOUR LIST
“Greed is the root of all evils”
We have heard this proverb a lot and it’s literally true. Instead of what more can we get, focus on what you already have. Shop according to your list and use the coupons for that stuff and things which you plan to buy. The others were only there to distract you and cause more burden on your pocket.
